Who is the
Hungry Yankee?

The story of a food lover from the
United States living in Barcelona, Spain

Benvinguts i bon profit! ๐Ÿฅ˜๐Ÿท

My name is Anthony-David Hadley and I was born on March 2, 1983 in the Kingsburg-Selma area of Central California. I was the pickiest eater in my entire family while growing up. However, everything changed when fate brought me to Barcelona, Spain at the end of 2005.

Despite having been raised in Californiaโ€™s most productive agricultural region, I had never experienced fresh produce or seafood until I moved to Barcelona. I quickly fell in love with the cityโ€™s bustling marketplaces, where endless amounts of produce overwhelm the senses, and the Mediterranean take on food, which, though simple, packs a flavorful punch.

That marked the start of my love affair with food. Far away from home and without family, I quickly began trying to recreate the dishes I missed from the States and those that expanded my culinary horizons in Europe. Almost 20 years later, I have finally decided to transition from simply sharing this passion with friends to sharing it with all of you, wherever you may be.

In this blog, I focus not only on foods that originated in Catalonia and the United States but also on the foods that now form a part of everyday life in both areas.

๐ŸพMimosa๐Ÿพ

My favorite person in the whole wide world. Mimosa (or Mimi as her friends call her) was born in Terrassa on August 23, 2014. She came into my life two months later and has been my constant source of joy and light ever since. Sheโ€™s scared of big dogs, big waves, and fireworks, but she loves people of all kinds, and most people describe her as the nicest chihuahua theyโ€™ve ever met. Tโ€™estimo, petitona.ย ย
